Day 044: Brommerexcursion rules

Ciao people,

i'm back.. sorry for keeping you fans waiting
i'm sorry... mi dispiace.. i had to say these words to many times this week, but i'll come back to that later.

monday 14may, a day off. I had the wonderfull idea of planing a scooter excursion togheter with restaurant La Tortuga-owner Luce(30), my man! see pic
Originaly the excursion was on demand from my chief Evy, but toghether with a dutch rep Hanneke, they had to many drinks the night before so didn't show up at the meeting point after sms cancelling sometime sundaynight.
That sunday i booked 2 flemish tourist girls a 125 ccc scooter and gently proposed them to join us on monday. The more, the merier, you know... ;-)
So Luce got another friend Caramello, who works at the reception of Naxos Beach Hotel, to join us. Which got the total of participants on 5.
We took off untherneeth a very sunny sky, temparatures rise quickly to 25+ these days. First stop, Castello the San Marco: a ruin of a Saraceen forth (arab period) on a hill outside of Giardini Naxos, in the village of Catalabiano. The road to get all the way up was bad: dusty and full of stones and mini rivers, caused by the rain of april. Off road driving, i like it. Specialy when became clear that the girls - Lieselot and Goele - could not handle the 125cc machine. So i had to drive that one, Goele got in the back of Caramello's bike and Lieselot got up my small scooter. Wow, real power under my ass this time. The stones were fired away behind my, and i dusty cload followed my as i shadow.
Above: waiting at railroadcrossing.

Lost of pics from up the hill here.

Afterworths we drove the the airfield of Fiumefredo. We wanted to by the off road entry, but this time it wasn't really a road, more like a riverbank. Impossible to drive the scooters through this without risking punctures. So we had to go for the asfaltroad, which was a much better idea.
Arriving on the airfield, normaly only used for leisure airplanes and ULMs, we found out that it was closed that day, so drove on the strip which was completly abandoned. Time for a race. With all for scooters we lined up at one end, and raced for 500m to the other side. Guess who won on a 50cc scooter... Me offcourse!! I even beat both125cc scooters, eat this! Maybe someone let me win, i agree, but the importance is that I WON, right!
We afterworths drove back to La Tortuga to have pranzo (it. lunch) and had oysters for starters, jummy! Lieselot is allergic to seafood, so i had 2, double jummy!
After i great lunch we drove to the hotel of Caramelo's father and got some more suntan at the poolside. Unfortunatly we weren't allowed to swim cause the pool was officialy not opened. Reason? To cold.... it was definatly 28degrees (celcius, yes) at that moment. Somehow i did not understand that rule, do you?
i finished the day with gelato and the finish of the second etapa of the Giro d'Italia..

The day would have been perfect, if my self made à la carte excursion of tuesday didn't got cancelled and i hadn't had so many calls were i had to appologies the the participants. But that's all part of being a rep. I only remember that day as Scooterday. Do yourself a favor and go see the pics.
