Hey tuti,
sorry for being away so long. but for some reason, i could not enter the construction part of my blog for the last 4 days. Something or someone has been blocking me. I have my suspicions: local agents server host, for example. Today it is msnmessenger which is onreachable, but joy o joy, blogger is available again.
So, in english today for al non dutch readers ( Dobrejen Lucia in Slovakia, Hola Lolita in Espana) i'll tell you about my trip of today, Day 012, to Agricento. South West of Sicily.
Last time in dutch as was talking about a historical site, Roman and Greek theater and stuff, all destroyed by earthquakes, erosian or human interferance. Today it is - strangly enough - the same story. Well, Sicily has been conquered by many civilisations, who all build there own "things" or rebuild / adjested former civilisations' "things". Anyhow, Agricento was meanly build by the Greeks, but no earthquakes destroyed it this time. No, these beautifull really hughe temples were just used as quaries for other fortifications or ports from much later civilisations.
So far the history lesson. Do i bore you? Yes? You're welcome.
So all what i saw today were piles of stones. Luckely the sun was on the appointment (belgicisme, k weet het) and so was our poorly english speaking guide. conclusion: a pile of stones makes 10% of the fun, the tour guide the remaining 90%. Bad thing for excursion sales people like me, because the pile of stones is a sure thing. I mean: we know wath will be there, the stones don't move. But the guide is a big question mark. He or she can either make it one hell of a day, or he/she can make the day a hell.
Something else: Sicily, me dear friends, is the most beautifull country i have ever seen! i am serious! The planes of Spain, and those who know my history also know i've seen almost al of them (lichte overdrijving), are by far not as beautifull as the waving Sicilian countryside. Absolutely stunning, everything still green, nice slopes, fantastic cities, good roads, etc... even the - living - street dogs look healthy. The dead ones on or on the side of the streets generaly look not so healthy anymore.
I wish - o i wish - i had a digital camera. But i still haven't, and it won't be for this month cause i'm very near to broke. And there's still 18 days in this month to come.
All donations welcome, mail me and i'll reply my bank account number... ;o)
